Cross River Rentals – Snow Report 2011 – 12

MN State Trail Report

We are now on   Facebook

February

02/09/12 – Half way through the winter now and I officially decided today to put the sleds away for the season. A very unusual year with such shallow snow depths. Luckily it isn´t the norm and we will get the sleds out next winter and try again. For the rest of the winter I will be concentrating on ice fishing and hoping that Lake Superior Charter Fishing season comes early this spring.

January

01/31/12 – Mostly snow flurries is all we have seen this month. Yesterday´s snowfall of about 3 inches was looking good for building trail base. But today´s temps reached into the mid 30´s, melting most of what we had gained. Even though we haven´t been able to ride the trails this winter, it has been a great year for ice fishing. We continue to have a strong lake trout bite and good ice conditions with little to no slush. We have 2 more months of ice fishing to look forward to.

01/2/12 – Happy New Year! A few flurries over the weekend but just didn´t add up to enough snow to get us on the trails. We will keep working on it.

December

12/28/11 – We received about 2" of very fluffy snow today. Which means it will pack down to almost nothing. The snow is slowly accumulating, but still not enough to get the trails open. More snow is predicted for tonight, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

12/24/11 – Merry Christmas from Cross River Rentals. About 2" of snow yesterday. Not enough to open the trails yet. Maybe Santa will bring more tonight.

12/8/11 – Another dusting of snow last night reminds us that winter is coming, but not enough snow to get the trails open. Snow flurries are predicted for next few days, hopefully it will start piling up.

October

10/20/11 – A new season will be underway soon. Last year we had an abundance of snow and the trails were open by mid – late December. Keep your fingers crossed for another great year of snow and snowmobile riding.
